What Can You Cook In A Nuwave Oven?

Meals are an extremely important part of our day because it is the time when we replenish our energy and spend time with people that we love. Unfortunately it takes too long to get everything prepared for our meals and it can be extremely frustrating and irritating. What are you supposed to do when you have no time to prepare dinner for a family that deserves only the best? All of the food we consume should be healthy and filling. We should have meals that are nutritious because that is what keeps our bodies functioning and healthy. Preparing proper meals is extremely essential to our lives.

If you want to make cooking more convenient for you and for your family then the Nuwave oven is the right item for you. A Nuwave oven is disputed though and many people do not understand how to cook using a Nuwave oven. How do you use this weird looking contraption? Well, it is actually very simple. In this type of cooker you can bake and broil your food and so it can be used as a substitute for a convection oven. All you really have to is put the food in, add the seasonings and push a few buttons. The things you can do with this new style of cooking is amazing.

Did you know that you can even bake a cake in a Nuwave oven? It is something much simpler than using a regular oven and poses a lot less danger to yourself and those around you. Using this particular baker is a little different because it does not have normal temperature settings. When you bake you should experiment with the settings of low, medium and high. The best setting to use is high for approximately twenty minutes. This will yield the best result. Depending on the toothpick test, you should continue baking the cake at separate intervals. This is a quick and easy way to make delicious cake.

If you are interested in cooking something delicious that lasts longer than cake and will not spoil, then you should know that you can dry food in a Nuwave oven. The first step to drying any food is to steam it and after steaming you will cut the fruits, vegetables or meat to be dried. These should generally be done is thin slices so the water can escape quickly. After you have dehydrated everything you want to you must check to see that it is completely dry. There should be no moisture coming out of the pieces and the container should not have any signs of condensation on it. Also, make sure that you throw any pieces of dried food out as soon as you spot the slightest sign of spoilage.

One of the grandest things you can cook in a Nuwave oven is brisket. The one thing you should be careful about is the size of the brisket because it should not touch the sides of the dome. You should simply place the marinated brisket in the Nuwave oven and turn it on for about an hour. Add whichever seasonings you want and halfway through flip the meat over. You can add additional spices at this point if you want to do so. After cooking, the brisket is ready for a healthy and amazing meal for a family that deserves it after a hard day of work.

How to Decorate Your Own Ceramic Goblet

When thinking of decorating any type of pottery or dish, it's important to know whether you intend to use it at all, or if it's simply for decoration. This is especially important if you are going to decorate your own ceramic goblet. If you intend to use it, then it's important to make sure any paints, glazes, etc- are non-toxic and safe for use with all beverages.

Certain paints and glazes are toxic, when used with ANY type of liquid or food, others are only toxic if used with wine or acidic beverages or food. Make sure you read paint and glaze labels carefully before purchasing them, to ensure you are purchasing the correct types.

A ceramic goblet can simply be glazed with a clear glaze and the original pottery color can be seen through it, or you can paint it one solid color and then do a clear glaze over it. This is especially good if you intend on actually using the goblet. If you'd like, you can do a floral design on the outer bowl of the goblet or any other type of pattern- this is especially pretty if you intend on displaying it.

Whether you want to paint it in "olden style" or make it a more modern piece, that's up to you- but plan ahead beforehand, and even sketch any designs on the outside before beginning to paint, this way you are less likely to make a mistake that would require you to repaint it.

Some especially pretty goblets can be seen at medieval and Renaissance fairs or festivals, they are usually painted to look "old" and then Celtic or other medieval designs are then painted or etched onto them.

Things such as feathers, gemstones, rhinestones, stones or even seashells can be affixed to the outside of the goblet with hot glue or even some sort of "super" glue. These types of decorations are best if you use them on ceramic goblets only intended for decoration or display- feathers, stones, etc, won't wash well and will come off if overly hot or cold liquids are put in the goblet.

If you aren't wanting to do anything that matches any sort of pattern or "decor", then you can use plain paint and make up your own designs. The sky's the limit when it comes to decorating your own stuff, that's the great part of craft and art projects- you can make them however you like.

If you've made the goblet yourself, from the very beginning, then you likely already have an idea of what you're going to do with it, if not- then you can peruse glassware and pottery websites, and even stencil-design websites that will give you some ideas as to what you can do to decorate your ceramic goblet.

Stenciling, "tie-dye" style and even just plain stripes in different colors can be stunning and beautiful but the choice is yours, use your imagination!

How to Never Lose Your Glasses

I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time looking for my reading glasses. I can see sorta OK without them, like I can distinguish the milk and orange juice cartons in the fridge. Which is very handy first thing in the morning. But, I can't do other things like sit on the couch and see the TV clearly, or write on my laptop without squinting and getting a headache.

As I spend more time blogging, I also spend more time looking for my glasses. I bet they are positively correlated and that I could pull together an impressive Excel graph to illustrate it.

Each time I would stand up and walk away from the laptop, I took off my glasses and I tossed them somewhere different. Then, I forgot where I left them and I had to search for them later. It could take me 5-10 minutes to find them. And, when I thought of something truly Earth shattering that would change all of my readers lives and needed to be immediately written down in case I forgot the thought, it was upwards of 30 minutes to find my glasses again.

So, I re-purposed a few pretty, bright, eye catching trays and bowls that would hold my glasses and I placed them strategically throughout the house. It was fun to put some of my favorite items to new use, like my hand painted trays from Florence and my Navaho bowl. I really like seeing them on my coffee table, dining table, and TV stand, rather than up high on a display shelf. Plus, each time I see one of my treasures, fond memories of my travels come back to me. I remember drinks and food that I had forgotten like a magical night in Venice eating a pasta dinner canal-side. Memories of old friends from my travels now warm my heart and make me want to travel again.

Best of all, tossing my glasses into a designated bowl or little tray quickly became a habit and it now takes just seconds to locate them again. It is an enjoyable habit because so many good memories come back to me and I am reminded that I have lived a rich life that I am grateful for.

How to Get a Turbo Glass Convection Oven on Sale

I recently purchased a turbo oven, you know, one of those glass bowl ovens that can sit on your counter top? I had been looking for one for ages but was finding the right one at the right price to be to be a difficult search, I actually wanted a top of the range model but I did not want to spend $300.00.

My husband kept asking why I would want a turbo oven when I have a perfectly good oven that I can use whenever!!

There were three main reasons I had to have one of these ovens:

1. I hate cleaning the oven.

The ease of cleaning this oven was a big plus for me, you can add water and clean by turning on the machine and it will clean itself, you can remove it and put it in the dishwasher, or you can wait til its cool and clean it as you would anything else in your sink.

2. Less Grease and Fat

Always trying to watch my weight I really like that the grease and fat are allowed to drip to the bottom of the bowl whilst cooking. I just line the bottom with some foil and then throw it away when finished.

3. These Ovens cook fast.

I found that the oven cooks much faster than anything in the normal oven and as a busy person I want fast!.

Many of these ovens come with a combination of infra red and halogen and one of my favorite features is the grill function so that you can cook on two levels at the same time.

My Favorite Features on the Turbo Oven

No pre-heating before adding food

Simple to clean

The turbo oven can be used as a steamer

If you want the skin on certain foods to be crisp - for example - chicken - the oven is hot enough to do so.

Most turbo ovens can reach 450-500F

You can serve the food straight to the table

Its cooks really fast.

Disadvantages:

Being glass the bowl can break if dropped,.

The bowl can become quite hot so you do need to be careful when

turning food and make sure that you use an oven glove.

How do you find a Turbo Oven Sale?

As I discovered there are plenty of places where you can buy these ovens online but they do vary in price. Some of them give coupons and discounts and some are already cheap.

If you look hard enough you will find that some offer free shipping and if the oven gets damaged or is not what you wanted they even offer free return shipping as well. These are what you should be looking for, never pay full price if you can help it.

So to find the best price on turbo ovens on sale visit the love this oven Its got some great deals listed and you wont have to go to the trouble of finding them yourself.

Automatic Pasta Maker - Types of Pasta Makers and What They Do For You

In case Italian food is your weakness and cooking your passion, then there is nothing that should stop you from investing in an automatic pasta maker. Making your own fresh pasta is happiness in itself. You won't believe the satisfaction you will get from making your own pasta. Serving to your family and guests is an added advantage. You can make the desired pasta in your chosen recipe with the ingredients you wish to use and at a time most convenient to you! With good pasta makers you can control the pasta you wish to create and it becomes so easy; you have to try it to believe it!

There are many automatic pasta makers available in the market. They help you make various kinds of pasta like the spaghetti, lasagna, fettuccine, and farfalle. Rolling the dough with hand will not be able to give you a uniform thickness. The dough is much lighter in the automatic maker and the pasta that is created can absorb more sauces and juices. This makes the pasta dish very tasty. Ideally you must cut pasta from small pieces and make the dough really thin. Thin pasta is also easier to cook. The advantage these automatic pasta makers give you is that you can set the thickness of the dough. It helps you have a control over how thick you need your pasta to be.

Some of the automatic pasta makers also do the mixing of all ingredients of the dough. They have a reservoir where you need to put in the ingredients and they get mixed up. Not just that some machines are equipped to knead your dough also! More so, you can adjust the speed of the mixing and kneading. This helps you get the dough of the desired consistency.

In case the dough sticks on the machine you must dust the automatic pasta makers with enough flour. Even the dough must be dusted with flour so that it does not stick to the machine. Electronic pasta makers are very convenient and they save a lot of your time and effort.

Once the dough is rolled the next step is to cut it into your desired pasta shape. You need to fix the right attachment that will help you get the pasta in the shape the recipe demands. Many come with a variety of attachments that will enable you to make different kinds of pasta. These attachments can be removed from the machine and it is easy to clean them as well. Some companies have attachments that can be safely washed in a dishwasher.

Few automatic pasta makers also come with their video demonstrations that will guide you on the entire process. They also have cleaning tools like brushes that will help you to keep your machine and attachments clean. If you have an automatic pasta maker, it becomes very simple to treat your family to a great Italian meal once in a while or over weekends.

Unique Glass Pieces of Art

If you are the type of person who enjoys visiting museums and art shows, chances are you have a wide variety of art pieces in your own home. Most of these works of art are also most likely pieces that have been purchased. While pieces of art that have come from a store or an artist's studio are beautiful, there is something to be said for creating your own piece of art for your home. For some, creating their own piece of art might come easier than others. For example, someone might be highly skilled with a paintbrush, but not so great with the molding of clay. So if you aren't the type of person who wants to play in clay, there is another option: glass.

An easy beginner project when working with glass is to use the fuse glass method. This technique is employed by using pieces of glass that you may already have at home. Think of a mosaic table or piece of tile that you have seen. This is the same sort of style. All you need to get started is some warm glass supplies. To begin, you need to have a base piece of glass. Make sure this piece of glass is the shape that you want your final piece to be in. Once you have picked out your base piece, start breaking apart any other types of glass you want to add in. The glass that you want to layer on top of your base piece might be brightly colored shades of reds and blues or more muted shades of greens and yellows. You can also use confetti-sized pieces of glass to place on your base piece. Whatever pieces you are choosing for your base piece, keep in mind that it doesn't have to be perfect. The point of a mosaic piece of glass is just that: it is supposed to be random. In fact, it is this sense of randomness that makes your glass creation extra unique.

When you are finished with your glass designs, your piece is ready to be fired in a glass kiln. This last step will fuse all of the glass pieces together to form one single piece of beautiful glass. This type of glass work is so easy that anybody could do it. All you really need to buy is a glass kiln, and the other supplies you most likely already have at home. This is a cheap and easy way to create your own masterpieces at home.

So if you are interested in thinking outside the box, try making your own glass mosaic display piece. A glass mosaic would be the perfect accent for a coffee table in a living room or for the counter in the powder baths. Glass mosaics are so versatile; you could create one for every room in your house.

How to Practice Proper Care For Your Refrigerator

In our busy world, we do not have time! We do not have time to go to the market everyday, no time to buy food, no time to cook everyday either!

But we all need the routine level of nutrition and taste and freshness in the food to keep our taste buds working.

And what can be a better solution than a refrigerator? The modern kitchen is unthinkable without a refrigerator!

Compact Refrigerators:

With the size of our homes decreasing everyday, we need to arrange for smaller kitchens and smaller kitchen aid products.

Compact refrigerators come in very useful for this purpose. As per your requirements, you can have refrigerators that contain small freezers, ice trays, adjustable shelves, bottle holders on the door and doors adjustable to the left or right as per your convenience.

Cleaning:

The refrigerator basically ensures the fresh goodliness of your food. So, you should maintain it clean. When you are in doubt that the food is spoilt, then throw out the food to help your fridge breathe.

The shelves and the body should be cleaned with a bit of grease so that you feel like walking in and out of your refrigerator every time you open it. Try grouping similar foodstuff together so that one might not interfere with another.

Check that the height of the jars and bottles in the fridge are not exceedingly high. Place taller ones at the back of the fridge. Besides the refrigerator, keep the containers you keep in the fridge clean if you want to consume hygienic food.

Efficiency:

While choosing their refrigerators, most people tend to forget the electric consumption details.

So, if you want to save up money from your electricity bill, check that your refrigerator is working efficiently. An old model can well be replaced with an Energy Star model.

Work on your refrigerator and don't worry about your food!

How to Choose Dough Mixers

If you love the smell of freshly baked bread but you hate kneading dough, you may be thinking of adding one of the many dough mixers on the market to your kitchen appliance collection. Do not be too hasty in your choice however as making dough is a tough task for a mixer and not all of them will be suitable. Here are the things to think about when considering which mixer to choose.

1. The Power of the Motor

Whereas most hand mixers and cheap stand mixers will have no trouble at all mixing cakes, bread dough is a completely different proposition. The difference is in the proportion of dry ingredients to wet ones which is much higher with dough than cake mixture. The mixture is simply heavier to move and has more resistance and therefore needs a powerful motor to deal with it. If you try and make bread with a mixer which is not powerful enough, the motor will simply burn out and you will be left with no mixer at all. So that is the first criteria when choosing a dough mixer - a powerful motor, as powerful as you can afford.

2. The Weight of the Mixer

For the same reason, you need your mixer to be heavy and preferably made of metal. If your mixer is too light it will tend to move when it is forcing its way through the mixture and will not stay firmly in one place on your kitchen work surface.

3. The Capacity of the Machine

Think about the capacity of each machine too. If you are just going to make a small loaf or a pizza crust every now and again you can get away with a smaller machine than if you want to cook regularly for a family. If you cook a lot, you may want to look at a professional level machine.

4. Additional Attachments

Most of the machines for home use are not simply dough mixers, they also carry out a number of kitchen jobs. At the very least your mixer should have attachments for cake making and whipping cream but you will also find some machines on the market with many optional attachments and these are worth paying a bit more for if you are keen cook, so that you have the ability to extend your machine at a later date even if you do not need the attachments at the moment.

For more information about dough mixers see topkitchenappliances.com where you will find details and reviews on the best mixers available for home use - the ones capable of mixing dough without burning out - as well as details of other kitchen appliances.

Buying a Red Kitchenaid Mixer

When you purchase the red Kitchenaid mixer, it will come with various accessories. This will depend on the brands and models that you purchase. The mixers also differ. Kitchenaid offers a wide variety of mixers which includes hand mixers and standalone ones. When shopping for the right mixer, you will need to consider your needs.

The most popular models of the red Kitchenaid mixer include the 600 series and the Ultra Power Hand Mixers. These models are all colored red but depending on the model, you can find ones that come with red mixing bowls and spatula set. Kitchen appliances make your day to day tasks easier. If you love to bake cakes, pastries, and cookies, you will need a quality mixer to mix the dough.

The mixers come in different sizes. Some models have large bowls that can accommodate 14 cups of flour but there are also ones that come with separate bowls for the hand mixer. The mixer is different from food processor like the DLC models of Cuisinart and it is not for chopping or shredding. As the word suggests, this device is for mixing.

If you want to know how to use the red Kitchenaid mixer, you should read the manual once you get the device. Study the parts and use the device properly to avoid thermal overload. This can ensure a device that can perform at its maximum and at the same time, giving you the desired consistency of mixtures. Why don't you buy your own mixer today?

Fun Ideas for Christmas Decorating

It is the time of year for holiday decorating, but are you ready? Do you hate the idea of the hassle, the mess, and the expense? Enjoy the holidays again with these fun ideas for Christmas decorating.

Christmas Trees: Are you tired of those boring glass balls? For a new look, consider decorating with candy canes and matching ribbon only. In place of a star, why not use a cluster of candy canes at the top. If you are really creative, use sheer wrapping paper to cover Styrofoam balls so that they resemble candy pieces and create a garland of goodies.

Fireplaces: Often a centerpiece of holiday scenes, decorating the fireplace can seem overwhelming. Keep it simple by hanging stockings on the mantel. Even if you never place anything inside of them, just by hanging there they will add a sense of holiday festivity. This is easily one of the most traditional ideas for Christmas decorating, but still just as effective as it was in years past.

Dining Room: To add some sparkle to your dining room table, fill a simple glass bowl with colorful glass ornaments. (If you followed the tips above, you should have plenty left over!) This adds a decorative Christmas touch without the predictable poinsettias. If you prefer not to use glass balls, why not use tinsel and candy canes?

Windows: Give a festive look to your windows by making large bows from holiday themed ribbon and attaching them as tie backs to your window treatments. This unexpected splash of Christmas color adds a new twist to decorating for the season.

Now that you have a few ideas for Christmas decorating, why not get started and actually try enjoying it this year?

Using a Handmade Glass Sink in the Bathroom - Combining Art & Function

All About Glass Sinks

The hottest trend in bathroom design today is the handmade glass sink - often referred to as a glass vessel sink - which has become the latest must-have for luxury homeowners. Combine the versatility in color and design offered by glass with the vessel mount trend and it's no wonder that our company, Glass Artists Gallery, can barely keep up with demand. Vessel-mounted, fused, slumped, mosaic, under-mounted and hand-blown sinks have even influenced the faucet manufacturers' designs because of their unprecedented popularity.

We find ourselves answering questions and dispelling myths surrounding sinks just about every day. This article was created to answer some of the more common questions such as "What is a handmade sink?" "Are they expensive?" "What are the differences in the glass sinks I see in the showrooms and online?" "Are they durable?"

Types of Glass Sinks

To better understand the three main categories of glass vessel sinks, it helps to understand the three main types of glassmaking:

Cold Glass -- Working with glass at room temperature. Examples are mosaic glass, stained glass, glass carving and etching.

Warm Glass -- The process of fusing, slumping or other kiln forming techniques at temperatures between 1100 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hot Glass-- The process of blowing glass using a furnace that melts the glass at 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the glass is gathered on the end of a pipe, the artist forms the hot glass using a "Glory Hole" (an oven that maintains a temperature of around 1200 degrees Fahrenheit). The resulting work is then slowly cooled in an annealing oven.

With the above in mind, there are three main categories of artisan crafted glass sinks you will find at Glass Artists Gallery:

Fused & Slumped -- Glass fusing is the process of joining together pieces of glass. When the right kind of glass is heated and then cooled properly, the resulting fused glass piece will be solid and unbroken. Using fusing techniques, the artist creates patterns and designs in color. The resulting sheet of fused glass is then slumped into the vessel shape. In the slumping process the glass is laid into, or on top of a mold and heated just to the point where it "Slumps" to fit the form of the mold. Once the glass reaches the desired form it must be cooled quickly enough to stop the movement that will result in cracking. Although this might sound simple, the resulting sinks can be quite intricate in their design and require hours of painstaking labor.

Blown Glass -- Hand blown glass sinks are created through a much different process. This "hot glass" process allows an artist to create myriad different styles, colors, shapes and sizes that are always unique. Layers of glass are "gathered" onto the end of a "rod" or "pipe" and formed, blown and worked into a vessel shape. Color is applied in many different forms at the beginning of the process. Once finished, the piece is "annealed" for a minimum of 48 hours for maximum durability. Due to variations in the glass blowing process, every sink will be unique.

Mosaic Glass -- Pieces of hand-cut colored art glass are adhered to the inside surface of a 1/2" thick annealed glass bowl. Annealing is a process of bending the glass at extremely high temperatures to assure durability of use in the most extreme temperature conditions. The sink is then grouted with a specially mixed blend of sand and tinted cement, then sealed and finished with a protective clear polymer coating to create a smooth surface which is colorful, sturdy, easy to care for and a breathtaking focal point for any bathroom.

Handmade or Production?

As you can see from the types of glass sinks that are available, you have many different choices for incorporating a stunning centerpiece in the bath. The choice you will need to make is whether you want an original "work of art" - an artisan created sink - or a "factory produced" glass vessel. The trend in glass sinks has created a flood of offshore imports that are now available. We liken the current choices to the art world where you can find original art as well as "prints" or "reproductions". Production sinks made in a factory are mass produced generally using single sheets of glass. Many are painted with a design. Few, if any, are truly "slumped & fused".

Durability of Glass Sinks

How do we, as glass specialists, reassure the end user of a glass sinks durability? The analogy I use is that the glass sinks we sell are made by professionals and are able to withstand similar abuse as a porcelain sink. In other words, if you drop a heavy object into a glass sink with enough force to break it, you would have also broken a typical porcelain sink. They both have similar strength characteristics.

The difference between these two materials is that glass is more prone to "thermal shock". Thermal shock can occur when there is a sudden temperature change of more than 70 degrees. For example, you don't want to pour scalding hot water (over 120 degrees) into a glass sink. Hot water from the tap is generally 100 - 110 degrees, so the temperature difference is well within the safe zone. The most common occurrences of thermal shock happen when a sink is left on a jobsite where the temperature is unregulated.

When installing a glass vessel sink, be sure your contractor knows that thermal shock can be a problem if the jobsite is not yet heated. In addition, make sure they know that the drain assembly should be hand tightened only. Over-tightening the drain is the second most common cause of breakage.

At Glass Artists Gallery, our clients use glass sinks not only in the powder room, but also in the master bath, guest baths and even children's baths. When treated and installed properly, they are durable, safe and fantastic design options. With proper lighting, they will "glow" and cast wonderful light and shadow effects throughout the bath. They will certainly set your project apart!

KitchenAid U Series Dishwashers - The Best Dishwasher Ever?

If you are looking for quality appliances for your kitchen, Kitchenaid appliances stand head over heels above the rest. Kitchenaid provides a complete selection of appliances, including: refrigerators, mixers, grinders, toasters, microwaves, food processors and more.

With this article, I would like to focus on the Kitchenaid U Series Dishwasher. The Kitchenaid U Series Dishwasher is among the new appliances released in 2007. It has been labeled as Kitchenaid's "quietest and best performing" dishwasher ever produced.

The Series U dishwasher incorporates two new innovations, the Whisper Quiet Ultima Sound Insulation System and the ProScrub option. The Whisper Quiet Ultima Sound Insulation System allows the Series U dishwasher to operate with an exceptionally low sound of only 48 dBA, which is about half the 80 dBA of regular dishwashers.

In addition, the Series U dishwasher boasts the ProScrub option. This performance enhancing option is especially useful when dealing with tough to manage stains and baked-on matter.

The Series U dishwasher is also stylish and easy to use. It is beautifully designed to give your kitchen a sleek, clean, modern look. The Series U accomplishes this look by placing the dishwasher controls within a hidden console that is fully integrated into it's architecture.

Kitchenaid dishwashers are well known for their ease of use and the Series U is no exception. Some of the features include: a 4-blade food disposer that eliminates the need for pre-rinsing your dishes, a stainless steel extra tall tub that holds more dishes and provides better drying, a culinary tool rack that provides extra space for hard-to-place items, and my favorite, an optimum wash sensor that automatically adjusts the wash cycle to ensure maximum cleaning efficiency.

Finally, Kitchenaid products come with a better than average warranty and prices are more than reasonable. If you are thinking about a new dishwasher for your kitchen, the Series U is surely one to consider. It has a retail price of around $1400, however, it can be found at lower prices if you take the time to do some research.

Carnival Glass Bowls Costliest Items In It's Category

Carnival glass bowls form part of the large carnival glass collectible items. These are produced by pressing the glass and coating it with an iridescent coating which gives it shiny look. This process is known as doping, hence this glass is also sometimes referred to as dope glass. This process was first adopted in the early 1900s and it lasted only till the mid to late thirties, and today is extinct.

The company Fenton was the first and largest, widely recognized carnival glass producer. Fenton initially began life as a company which decorated blank glass produced by other companies. In 1907 it started creating carnival glass. When production started, Fenton glassware was marketed as "Iridill" or "iridescent ware". This was an instant hit and several other companies began producing and marketing their own carnival glass bowls.

In the late twenties, demand for their products began to wane. This was due to the decrease in sales during the Depression, and also in part to the saturation of the market by glass companies. To get rid of stock, companies began selling their wares at deeply discounted prices to carnivals, which the carnivals then used as prizes for their games. Several companies went out of business during this period.

Known as "carnival glass" by glass collectors, the popularity of carnival glass bowls surged in the 1950s. Originally used as carnival prizes, today reproductions are made by several companies. Fenton glass in particular is a prized collectible and the most frequently manufactured.

At present, auctions, antique shops, and online stores are the best places where one could get carnival glass at various prices. Fenton antique glass as well as other well-known carnival glass fetches high prices. Popular colors of these glasses are marigold, as well as dark hues like blue and green. However, carnival glass bowls in red or pastel color are the costliest item of this category. On a popular auction website, one rare ice-blue plate sold for $16,327.55!

For the newbie collectors, there are a lot of resources with plenty of information. A lot of web sites and books are out there for information on the many sizes and shapes these antiques are available.

Carnival glass bowls are a highly collectible type of glass. They were produced by covering glass with an iridescent, shiny coating. The largest producer of carnival glass was Fenton. Fenton glassware quickly became popular, and other companies started producing carnival glass as well. Due to market saturation and the Great Depression, demand for carnival glass declined sharply in the late 1920s. Today, antique Fenton glass in particular is sought after by collectors, with red and pastel colored pieces considered the most valuable. Many resources are available for those new to collecting, such as websites and books with information on the various types of carnival glass.

What is the Difference Between the KitchenAid Stand Mixers? The Top 5 Differences

The KitchenAid warrants returning to it time and time again, especially if you are a top notch cook or you want the best for your family.

The KitchenAid stand mixers handle everything. Whether it is kneading dough for bread, cookies or pizza to whipping up butter, whip cream, mashed potatoes or cakes, the KitchenAid stand mixers do very well in putting out what is expected of it.

1. The Artisan 5-quart stand mixer looks like a milkshake machine. The mixer head hangs over the mixing bowl, which is locked securely in place. Three mixing attachments come with this unit as well as a pouring shield.

2. The Classic 4.5 quart stand mixer allows you to lift the bowl up and down instead of the head lifting up and down.

3. The KSM150,in numerous colors,is the best selling 5-quart stand mixer. It is large enough to prepare dough for 4 ½ loaves of bread, 9 dozen cookies or 7 pounds of mashed potatoes.

4. The KitchenAid 5-Quart Professional 5-Plus 5-Quart uses 450-watt power to mix large batches of batter and dough. The stainless steel bowl has an ergonomic handle and the hub cover is hinged so that additional attachments can be used.

5. The KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-quart stand mixer has a 575-watt motor, and a stainless steel look. It costs about $100 more than the other KitchenAid stand mixers.

The KitchenAid mixers come with a flat beater, a wire whip and a dough hook. The larger quart bowls also come with a pouring shield which allows you to pour your mixture into a pan without the mixture dripping down the outside of the bowl.

The main difference between the KitchenAid stand mixers will depend largely on what you want and how much you will need to prepare your ingredients. These mixers are made in the United States and will last for years.
